Family garden activities during lockdown

Gardens seems to be buzzing with activity of late (and I'm not only talking about bees, although it is lovely to see them again!) As more and more of us are finding ways to keep active and motivated in our homes during lock down, people only need to look outside their window for inspiration.

The garden is a great place for families to get outside whilst the sun is shining and spend some quality time together.

If you're thinking of what to do with the kids and want to try the outdoor lifestyle for yourself, then here are a few family garden activities to enjoy!

Gardening

There's no better time to get muddied up and stuck in with a bit of gardening!

Planting seeds for flowers, plants or even vegetables and fruit is one of the most therapeutic and beneficial activities for everyone to do, from learning all about plant care and gardening, keeping fit and developing skills like patience, responsibility and a hard work ethic.

A family picnic

Being outdoors with the beauty of nature as your surroundings is the perfect excuse to organise and set up a family picnic.

Sit back and relax by making lunchtime more fun - all you need is a blanket, drinks and some tasty snacks!
Plus, why not use one of our cooler tables to keep your drinks fresh and cool as you eat. As a striking and versatile product, it is easy to store your drinks in and work as a table too (no more spilt drinks on the grass). Also, the PE resin bowl and aluminium parts are weather resistant and will not fade in the sun or rust in the rain no matter how long you leave it!

If you buy a Cooler Table with the tray and chopping board, it's excellent for serving food and nibbles alongside a glass of wine, juice or bottle of beer.

Create a wildlife habitat

Invite all manners of wildlife into your garden by creating a habitat for small animals and insects to feed, shelter and pollinate. Not only this, but you'll also be contributing to your garden’s ecosystem by keeping it lush, green, and watered.

A compost heap or log pile will thrive with fungi, worms, slugs and beetles for birds and mammals like hedgehogs and mice to eat from all day long. They also make for ideal shelters to provide animals with a place to rest.

Other habitats such as a pond for aquatic species act as a fresh water supply and life-long home for toads, fish and even newts.
Take up woodwork by building a DIY nesting bird box and let the kids make some bird balls with loads of recipes to choose from online.

So, live the outdoor life with these fun family garden activities and if one of our iconic coolers has caught your eye, we’re able to make to order.
